Paper cut family tree

After doing the wedding card a few weeks ago, a friend asked me to make her a papercut tree with her family's names.

Here's the design, ready to cut…

…5 hours later it's all cut out!…

…I mounted it in a floating frame…

Tree Wedding Card

A friend wanted a special wedding card for her friends. She was giving them a tree as a wedding present so I made this card…

…here is is ready to start cutting…

…5 hours later I finished cutting and removed the template…

…I tidied up the edges, it looked really nice on a glass table outside!…

…I made a window card mount for it…

…I liked the way the front of the card bowed forwards – this meant the cut cast shadows on the background rather than looking flat…

…finished!

Personalised Keyrings by my aunt

My aunt can print onto fabric. She made me this cute personalised keyring!
She might be selling them in her shop… http://www.folksy.com/shops/plumporridge

Mother's Day 2014

I tried to be a bit more free and loose with my cutting style this time. But it doesn't work like that with paper cuts. You can see at the bottom I've been too relaxed and made wobbly thicks and thins. Bad form. The trick is making a design that looks relaxed and fluid, but cut it out in a very controlled manor so as to define the design perfectly.

How Like An Angel anniversary gift

For my parent's wedding anniversary I bought us tickets to see 'How Like An Angel', performed by CIRCA in Norwich Cathedral as part of the Norfolk & Norwich Fesitval 2013.
I made a themed presentation card…

I also produced the information sheet for the show, and created a special image to advertise the show…

2013 Paper Cut Calendar Success

In November I ran a trial of a project I was going to launch on my DaWanda shop the following month.
(Read about the project here)
Kim, a friend of a friend, volunteered to try out the project. A few weeks later she sent me some pictures of her results. To my surprise and delight, she explained how she had developed the initial concept to add a personal touch! She placed family photos behind the cut out letters so every month holds a lovely memory as well as the elegant paper-cut letter.
This is going to make such a lovely Christmas gift for her parents – so much care and thought has gone into it. I am so impressed!

"Yes, it took a while - I hadn't done card cutting before, and found the curved bits quite frustrating. However, I think it will do the job!"
Kim

The template for this calendar is available from my DaWanda store in English or German.
