Rob Ryan Related News…

Today I finished packaging everything that had to be sent out for Christmas. I'm very excited to be able to use my special seasonal Rob Ryan tape. However, it's so huge I think it's going to last me about 10 years, even though I'm using it for everything at Christmas!

And in other exciting, Rob Ryan-related news, my competition prizes arrived today! I was absolutely thrilled to win these books as they were on my wish list for a long time!!!

Rupert the Dinosaur

I did an art swap with illustrator Karl Newson.
I gave him my Cube Type paper cut and he gave me a framed print of his smug Steve The Cat and signed a copy of his book for me.

Lovely window of The Book Hive, Norwich

My favourite book store in Norwich is The Book Hive. Not only do they sell beautiful books, but they also make great window displays.

One lunch time I noticed so many things in the window had a connection to me…

There was the Fritz Kahn book, which is relevant to Henning Lederer and his Industrial Palace work:

I recognised this cover as it's a design by my favourite typographer Jessica Hische:

And here is a painstaking video of the design being made up as a paper artwork:

I have read this book; Map of Days by Robert Hunter:

And this little guy is really cool…

Fish book – first glimpse!

Our fish books have been printed! I'm very excited by the overall effect of the tile design for the cover and end papers. I haven't seen the real thing yet, but I've been told they are lovely!

Fish tiles

I'm working on a book which will be published in Jan 2013.
It's an index of seafood in seven languages.
I've been working on a pattern design for the endpapers. It's taken me two days to draw.
Inspired by Portuguese ceramic tiles, combined with the theme of sea & fishes, here is my vector-drawn tile design…
